To calculate the cloud tops you need to use the weather radar system .

The weather radar beam  width is about 4 degree

use this formula to get the cloud tops in feet :

cell range (in feet ) x weather radar tilt – 1/2 beam width = ?? / 60

example : cloude range 60NM x 6080= feet  , tilt 1 degree up

60 x 6080 x (1-2)=364,800 / 60 =6080 feet
